Creativity Fueled By Chaos

Well, it has been another busy and productive harvest season! Hello everyone! I am Beth Bennett, Co-Owner of Nestled Feathers along with my darling husband Cliff. I must apologize for my absence blogging here for the past six months! Let me explain.
Our number one rule here at the Bennett homestead is food first and that priority has left us with little time for much else. There have been improvements to the greenhouse, additions to the garden, additions to the longarm quilting studio. All entailing endless re-organization to all of these areas in our continued effort to streamline the process for our aging bodies to better manage.
Exciting times are often exhausting. We are living through the most stressful period of our collective lives at a time in our personal lives that are also full of upheaval, retirement. Retirement is rarely the dream life we imagine and the reality isn't very pretty even in the best of times. Not that it is any easier for our dear grandchildren who are just starting out on their own. Learning where to refill our empty cups can be a challenge at times. Faith, family and friends are where we go to reconnect, return to our roots and replenish our souls.
Then, we can return to our individual and collective objectives of creating a more healthy and harmonious environment by using our gifts, talents and skills to benefit one another. Helping is healing for both parties. This fact is not lost in the chaos, but fueled by it. Therefore we create. We grow our gardens and share the harvest to ensure that everyone is fed. We sew our blocks together to create coverings that warm more than bodies but also hearts. We create space in our lives to ensure that no one is left alone.
We do all of this creating in a sincere effort to balance the heartless destruction growing to unbearable levels all around us, threatening our very survival. We seek the center of the storm, where there is momentary calm so that we can process and plan our path through the chaos. Eventually though, we must find our way out of the confusion and make hard choices, forge ahead, often with nothing more than instinct to guide us.
Calm introspection and blind faith have been instrumental in maintaining my own personal peace through understanding not only my own motivation but that of others as well. Time spent with the mirror is time well spent. Not for vanity's sake but for that moment you catch yourself actually loving yourself! Go ahead! It's okay, we all love you too!!!
Throughout this harvest season, may we all create a spirit of gratitude and kindness in all that we say and do! We here at Nestled Feathers, wish each and every one of you a season of love and understanding, warmth and comfort and the time to create beauty within and for all to enjoy. God Bless!
